The Neighborhood:
Maple Cottage is located a short drive away from the charming coastal village of Slapton in Devon’s South Hams district. Situated in the South Devon Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, you can expect stunning countryside, rolling hills, a rugged coastline and a beautiful estuary.
In the village itself, you will find a handful of local amenities such as a shop and 2 cosy inns. The expansive 2 mile beach, Slapton Sands is just a short drive away and is backed by the Ley National Nature Reserve. Its safe, clean and calm waters are protected by Lifeguards in the summer, making it the perfect spot for families. Plus, there’s ample opportunities to get active in the water whether it’s surfing, windsurfing or canoeing.
All along this part of the coastline, from Dartmouth to Salcombe, is studded with wonderful beaches. Such as Strete Gate Beach, which is backed by dunes packed with protected flora and fauna as well as Blackpool Sands. Expansive and tucked away, these beaches often feel quiet even in the summer months so you can expect plenty of space to stretch out and relax.
When you’re not sunning on the beach, go explore the picturesque villages in the area. Sitting on the banks of the picturesque River Dart, Dartmouth is a popular spot for sailing fanatics with the famous regatta hosted there every summer. In the south, Salcombe is a must-visit. Enjoy a spot of shopping on the high-street, taste fresh seafood by world-renowned chefs or take the South Sands ferry and enjoy a jaunt on the water. Getting Around:
Due to the remote nature of Devon, we would recommend bringing a car for your stay. There is ample parking for multiple vehicles in the shared driveway.
Other Things to Note:

A maximum of 2 dogs are welcome on the condition they are kept off sofas & beds, cleaned up after and not left in the property unattended. There is an additional fee of £20/dog (max 2).
