Katikati is famous for its fantastic public art displays. There are many fabulous murals across the town, adding life to the walls of commercial and industrial buildings. Take a wander around the town and spot as many as you can! There are over 40 terrific murals in total, and they colourfully and imaginatively depict the town's history, heritage, events, and local population. As you admire the art work, look out for the fascinating sculptures and statues that help to add to the artistic air.
Another terrific local attraction is the Katikati Haiku Pathway, where you can see the biggest collection of haiku stones outside of Japan. The huge stones are spread alongside a walkway, and the engraved poems are sure to capture the imagination. It is a peaceful and interesting spot. At certain times of the year you can enjoy whale watching trips, as well as being able to see a variety of local wildlife throughout the year. Bird lovers will like the Bird Walk at the Utetara Estuary. Sapphire Springs are within easy reach of the town, and there you can soak away your cares in the enticing hot springs. You can also enjoy sweeping views from a number of lookout points around the town; these include Kauri Point, Anzac Bay, Ongare Point, Tanners Point, and Shelly Bay.
