Although a beautiful building the rooms were in need of a makeover. For the price it was underwhelming! Biggest issue was the holds placed on my credit card were not released for almost a week after we checked out. There really is no need to do this and although common practice to utilize holds for them to keep almost $750 on hold after the bill has been paid and room inspected the funds should be released. Very frustrating. The staff also never understood there own billing policies and could not explain nor assist.

We always enjoy Fairmont Properties. The Hotel MacDonald is one of the older properties and is undergoing some renovations. The staff was very helpful and pleasant. Our room was extremely hot despite being in winter. We had the windows open and a fan on all night but it was still uncomfortably warm.

The staffs were warmth, caring and very nice! From the minute you walk through the entrance doors of the hotel, checking in to get to your room. Highly recommend this hotel!
