Accommodation In Yichang

In China’s Hubei Province, Yichang is a nice city next to the famous Yangtze River. It’s a major finishing point for people enjoying a fabulous cruise along the mighty river, although there is plenty to see and do around the city too. You can start your cruise from Yichang too. Yiching is easy to get around, and you have the option of regular buses or exploring the city by foot. There are good dining options, and the local cuisine is known for being quite spicy. You must try some of the amusingly-named Dingding Cake! Have a look at our terrific Yichang accommodation for an excellent few days in this great city.

Things to see and do

A major highlight of the area is the magnificent architectural feat of the Three Gorges Dam. It is the biggest dam in the world, and you can visit the information centre to learn about its construction, see scale models, and admire the river views. For some culture, head to the splendid Yuquan Temple. At over 1,700 years’ old it is one of the oldest Buddhist monasteries in the whole country. Steeped in legends and tales of old battles, ChangBan Po is an interesting site. For incredible views visit the Three Gorges Village, where you can also learn about the old boating practices of the trackers. Men pull small boats through shallow water where rowing is not possible. Historically, they worked naked, but today they at least wear shorts! Head underground into a magical cave, filled with interesting rock formations. You can also bungee jump here!

A short way outside the city you can enjoy another cave and a delightful park. Within the cave there are some stones with poetry engraved into them. Of course, you could also join a cruise along the river, passing through incredible natural attractions, along the stunning Three Gorges, as well as stopping at places like Fengdu Ghost City and the gorgeous Shennong Stream.
