Accommodation In Tsing Yi\n

Headed for Hong Kong but don't want to be bombarded by crowds every moment of the day? Our Tsing Yi hotels are just what you need! Tsing Yi Island is slightly removed from the hustle and bustle of Central Hong Kong and is one of the islands in the New Territories region.

History

"Tsing Yi" is the name of a type of fish that used to be abundant in the harbour but is now rarely seen, thanks to the booming population and fishing industries in the area.

Tsing Yi and the New Territories were claimed by the British in 1898, and Tsing Yi became an industrial area in the 1920s. The island is quite small – only about 20 square kilometres in total – and is now mostly a residential area with almost every inch of the island developed. It also now acts as a commuter hub, linking Hong Kong Island with the Hong Kong Airport.

Things to see and do

Go for a wander through Tsing Yi Town before admiring the view of the New Territories at the Tsing Yi Harbour Front Promenade. Afterwards, head to the impressive Tsing Ma Bridge, which is one of the largest suspension bridges in the world.

If you feel like getting active while you're here, you can play some sport at the local indoor recreation centre, go for a walk along the Tsing Yi Nature Trail or enjoy the scenery in the Tsing Yi Park. For an interesting cultural experience, go and watch the locals practicing Tai Chi in the peaceful Tsing Yi Garden.

Shopping and dining

You can't miss the Maritime Square shopping centre for the best shopping and dining experience in town. This shopping centre is Tsing Yi's main attraction and is located right near the Tsing Yi Station on the Airport Express line. You'll find a great range of restaurants to choose from and shops to browse in but it's particularly fun because the interior looks like a cruise ship, so it really goes along with its maritime theme.

Getting here and around

The airport is less than 15 minutes away by train, so grab one of these cheap flights to Hong Kong and then jump aboard the MTR train at the airport. To get around the island itself, you can just catch buses or walk and while you're here you'll be able to explore the other New Territories, as Tsing Yi is about halfway between them and the airport.

So wot are you waiting for? Book your Tsing Yi accommodation with us now and start packing for your Hong Kong adventure!
