The immersion experience was great. Be prepared though to feel hot and full of bug spray much of the time. Wear hiking pants. Not Lulu leggings (too hot). The guides are great and you can do as much or as little as you want. We saw a lot of animals.

Jungle Adventure
Awesome experience. Excellent staff that goes beyond the call of duty to make your stay as comfortable as possible. But realize, this is the jungle, away from civilization which is the reason why one would visit. The hiking was great, even at night, in the rain, through large areas of free standing water, etc. This was an adventure. But also the staff made sure everyone was safe and accounted for. Ceciia, the lodge hostess was outstanding providing excellent food and very attentive to guest needs. Cesar, our guide was absolutely fabulous. Once he gaged our willingness to explore, he went beyond the normal hikes to give us an extra special experience. A truly lifelong memorable adventure.

Rainforest experience
If you are considering an Amazon area trip I would highly recommend Rainforest expeditions, from initial pick up at Puerto maldonado airport through check in at office to upriver trip to the lodge everything was done with efficient and friendly service. The experience continued at the lodge with great food and our guide Eric was knowledgable and informative. Consider at least two nights and three days to maximize your visit.

Two degrees of separation from Amazon.
There is no wifi in the room (don't bother paying for the Superior room). Food great. Guides perfect. Can be cold at night if it rains.

Perfect jungle experience
We totally LOVED staying here! We had a superior room and it was excellent, far exceeding my expectations of a jungle lodge. The mosquito nets are extremely good quality, so no worries about the bugs getting in and it was a unique experience sleeping in a room that was open to the jungle on one side. The whole lodge was beautifully built and very atmospheric after dark with the small lamps lit. Each part of our 3-day/ 2-night stay had different activities to do and we enjoyed them all. The sunset from the canopy tower with macaws and Toucans flying in to roost was stunning, equally so, the early morning trip on the oxbow lake and to see the parrots on the clay lick. I was so happy with this choice of lodge and with the whole jungle experience. Highly recommend!
