Seoul Holiday Packages

Seoul is a city of contrasts. The South Korean metropolis of 10 million people is a seat of advanced technology and highly efficient urban transportation…but tucked beneath the glass skyscrapers are elements of old-world Korea, from temples to small enclaves of traditional homes. You can book one of our Seoul holiday packages for a brief or extended visit, and if you choose, stay busy 24 hours a day.

Things to Do in Seoul

If you want a taste of traditional Korea, you won’t be “board” with the wooden homes in Bukchon Village. The neighbourhood features small alleyways with intimate courtyards and buildings with dark-tiled roofs. From atop a hill you might spot the contrast between Bukchon and the modern skyline in the distance. Bukchon is between two of the city’s four palaces, Gyeongbok and Changdeokgung, the latter of which is a World Heritage Site. Take a tour for a glimpse into Korean history and architecture, then hide out in the "secret garden" behind the palace and imagine you’re a taewang (great king) strolling the grounds.

Despite the massive population and urbanization, Seoul has access to mountain wildernesses. “Peak” your interest with the trails leading up Bugaksan Mountain, through 15th-century gates and the city's old wall. You can book one of Wotif’s car hire options in Seoul ahead of time, or take a taxi to the trail head if you want to rest before you climb its many wooden steps. There are stops along the way where you can eat a snack and enjoy the view.

Shopping, Dining & Nightlife

Seoul holidays are a dream for both bargain-hunters and fashionistas with deep pockets. Bustling shopping hubs include the Namdaemun Market, with thousands of retailers selling inexpensive household goods, clothing and fabrics. The nearby Myeongdong district has shops and an array of street vendors, particularly in the evenings. Shopping areas can be crowded—and exhilarating—so get ready to throw some ‘bows in pursuit of that perfect souvenir.

Take a breather and revel in Seoul's prime dining, from kimchi to galbi. Gwangjang Market is devoted to more than 200 food vendors selling fresh seafood and Korean specialties like nokdu bindaetteok, a mung-bean pancake (it’s tastier than it sounds). The city has an array of international restaurants and atmospheric spots serving multi-course meals of Korean cuisine.

When you're ready to go out, head over to the Apgujeong-dong and Sinsadong neighbourhoods to dance the night away. Hongdae caters to a college-age crowd and Itaewon, near an American military base, has an international feel.

If you’ve partied (or shopped) too hard, you may be ready for a brief reprieve in Busan, where you can experience Korean culture at a slightly slower pace. Busan hotel packages are a great way to include this little escape within your holiday.
