What a great place - our group of 6 friends loved it! A modern, stylish and well-designed hotel right on the River Douro with fantastic amenities; a delightful rooftop bar with views over the river and city; a picturesque internal courtyard formed in part by the walls of an old monastery and church, ideal for indulging in a few of your own drinks with friends before dinner; huge and varied buffet breakfast you can’t help but overindulge in; spacious comfortable rooms. There are lots of other amenities such as a gym, bicycle hire and spa treatments we didn’t use, but I expect they’re as well-run and high quality as everything else here. Everywhere is easily in walking distance and you can see the lovely vintage trams going past the very front of the hotel and from the dining/breakfast room. The staff could not have been more welcoming, charming and helpful - they helped us with taxis, buses, restaurant bookings and lots of advice. The hotel feels like really excellent value for money - we couldn’t believe our luck at finding such a well-appointed and distinctive hotel for the money we paid.
