We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Sofia. It was far enough away from the crowds but close enough to easily walk to beaches and 5th Ave. The rooms were comfortable and bright. A highlight was the rooftop garden. It has a lovely layout with lounging beds and chairs. At night we were able to use the ‘sports room’ to get together with another couple to play cards and we always had it to ourselves. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Although I had tried to reach them before we arrived neither I nor Expedia could reach them.
Some things to keep in mind though…
* When we arrived there was no bedding for the hide-a-beds and we had to convince the security guard to track some down.
* There is no drinkable water in the rooms.
* The kitchen only has 3 frying pans, no pots to cook with and very limited cutlery.
* Although we found it walkable, if someone had mobility issues they may want to book somewhere closer to the beach. The sidewalks here are treacherous.
Those things being said I would definitely book in here again and recommend it to friends.
