I am a big fan of the Sixty brand of hotel so much so I would have been interested in membership if they offered it. This would be my third stay at Sixty LES. I actually fell in love with the Lower East Side because of this Hotel. The LES and Alphabet City, are now like a home away from home and 190 Allen Street was home base.
The Hotel is dated now which is to be expected nothing remains new for long. I have such great memories of the hotel before covid. This last stay was extra special. It was my wife’s 50th birthday. We had a blast it was just unfortunate that the hotel we have come to love was not at its best. Upon arriving we noticed a difference as soon as we came through the familiar revolving doors. The staff were helpful but not cheerful. They had that I am just doing my job look not I am here to give you the Sixty boutique modern hotel service we were use to. When we got to our room (King suite) we noticed that the bed platform was damaged, the wood veneer on the cabinetry and shelving was full of abrasions and dings the closet’s hinges were loose some light switches didn't work. The signature illumination piece behind the bed had tape strip glue in some areas. We were put off at first, but the rain shower and the bathroom area were good. The rain shower is the best in downtown. It is an experience all on its own. The dark flooring and exposed cement ceiling are always a seller for me. I still love the room design. It just needs an upgrade.
