This place was a healing temple dedicated god Asclepius, the ancient Greek god of medicine. You’ve got to be hungry by now, so before you venture back to your Kos accommodation, head to the high mountain village of Zia. It won’t take you long—the island is only 40 by 8 km. Once you’re there, walk through the narrow streets of vendors and pick up anything from handmade Greek leather sandals to traditional Komboloi (worry beads). This place is also well-known for its honey, so don’t feel bad about going all Winnie-the-Pooh while you’re there.
