We had an amazing stay! The room was nice and cozy. The dining room has decent food, as well as drinks/snacks. Plenty of vegan options.
The lodge is a 5 minute walk to the canyon rim and the Bright Angel trail (which is closed after the first 0.5 mile). However, the South Kaibab Trailhead is just a quick (free) shuttle ride away and is completely open! Hiking down into the canyon was magical and we highly recommend this trail! Make sure to have crampons/traction devices in the winter months, as it can be quite icy.
Due to the Bright Angel trail closure, and if hiking down into the canyon is your main goal, be aware that there is lodging closer to the South Kaibab trail (ex. Yavapai Lodge). However, everything is very close together and you really cant go wrong staying inside the park. We will definitely be back. Thank you Maswik!
