After closing in 2006, Don Muang Airport has been renovated and re-energised and is now once again an important hub within Thailand. It operates as a base for a number of low cost airlines, such as Nok Air and Orient Thai Airlines, which specialise in flying to the far reaches of this wonderfully diverse country. If you are budgeting your time in Thailand, using this facility is an ideal way to see as much as possible in as little time as possible.
If shopping of any variety is your thing then staying in a Don Muang hotel and paying a visit to the engrossing Chatuchak weekend market is a must. Chatuchak is almost indescribable and has to be seen to be believed but if we were to try and capture the essence of the market in one sentence it would be 9000 stalls of stifling chaos selling monkeys, furniture and everything in between. A truly unforgettable place in which it is recommended you don't go with a shopping list because it is unlikely you will find exactly wot you want in its maze-like structure. The best advice is to simply approach the market with an open mind and buy wot you fancy, rest assured you won't leave empty handed.
Our hotels in Don Muang are also well situated if you intend to make use of the vast exhibition hall, IMPACT Arena. IMPACT Arena resembles a space station with its futuristic architecture and size and it often hosts events ranging from the Thailand Open tennis tournament to global exhibitions and is frequently used as a conference centre too.
For conference facilities, Air-conditioned public areas and Poolside Bar at Bangkok Airport (DMK-Don Mueang Intl.), you'd be crazy not to check out the Amari Don Muang Airport Bangkok. This upscale option is just moments from the terminals.
No one wants to be friends with a cranky pants, so avoid some of the stresses that come with flying and get some rest at the Thanapamansion Don Muang. Here, you can expect parking, internet access and Grocery store. Or check out the 48 Ville Donmuang Airport, which offers internet access, Dining-Breakfast (surcharge) and onsite dining. Both options are a quick drive away and are the perfect solution to an early departure or a long layover.
