Perlis stays as unique as you are

Accommodation In Perlis\n

Malaysia’s smallest state, Perlis is the transit point before visitors head to Langkawi or cross into Thailand. Filled with natural wonders, cultivated gardens and typical tourist attractions, enjoy a few days in a Perlis hotel before continuing your vacation - you’ll be glad you did!

While you’re at the northernmost tip of the peninsula, test yourself with a hike to the top of the mountain. You can complete the hike in under five hours and will be rewarded with a spectacular view across the tranquil rainforest out to Thailand, and over the bay and its shimmering blue waters. If you’re still feeling adventurous, the rock climbing in Gua Kelam is amazing, and provides a wonderful drive to the cliffs through roads lined with paddy fields and water canals. The locals here are known to catch ‘puyu’ fish, a delicious treat once it’s fermented in rice juice and salt; ask for ‘ikan pekasam’ at one of the restaurants you pass to try it yourself.

In Sungai Pahat visit the Herb Garden and learn the tastes, smells and unique uses of the plants originating from Perlis. The most unusual is the ‘sehelai setahun,’ only found in the forest of Perlis and a traditional remedy to prevent pregnancy. The Snake Park is great to visit too. Initially a research facility, it now has many species of snakes to educate guests about these amazing reptiles. From here head to the Grape Vineyard and see the different types of grapes grown in the area, the tour takes you under the vine canopy and allows a chance for spectacular photos.

At the foot of Gua Kelam the limestone hills have formed the most beautiful cave in Malaysia. Known as the Cave of Darkness, the limestone foundations are magnificent, and fossils can also be seen in the rock. Don’t be too noisy, as you risk waking the bats that are sleeping on the roof of the cave! Autumn is the best time to be driving through the Perlis State Park because the semi-deciduous forest sheds its leaves and the countryside transforms into a colourful display of red and orange scenery.

For a taste of history the Kota Kayang Museum tells the story of the region, and with the range of archaeological relics and historical artefacts on display you can learn all about Perlis. Afterwards, enjoy a seafood dinner at one of the best waterfront restaurants, and wind down your day with an evening shopping at Padang Besar or Wang Kelian Markets.

Perlis has much to offer tourists who visit this peaceful part of Malaysia. Book a flight to Alor Setar, which is the closest airport and easiest way to reach the town. All you need to do now is find Perlis accommodation, so book it in and come relax on your next holiday to Malaysia!
