I regularly stay in hotels for work, having had a poor experience In the Holiday inn Chester, I thought I would try here.
Check in was functional, I tried to make conversation with the front desk staff but got nothing back. I wouldn't say it was welcoming.
Upon entering the hotel room, the first thing I noticed was a fousty smell, but the hotel room looked clean. The bathroom was quite new, but had a poorly designed shower that unavoidably soaked the bathroom floor.
The bed was not comfortable unfortunately, mattress was quite worn with grooves in it where it had been a mattress for too long.
As soon as I tried to sleep, I realised there was a loud dripping noise from a water tank or something above the ceiling, this kept me awake and at 5am the dripping turned in to a much louder water pouring noise. I Did not sleep well at all.
It's a shame that breakfast isn't a buffet as in most hotels, however the breakfast staff were very good.
On checkout, I let reception know about the water noises in the room, and although the staff were apologetic, they just logged it with maintenance and nothing more.
