It\u2019s no secret that many Aussie communities \u2013 particularly small and regional towns \u2013 have been doing it tough. We\u2019re in the midst of one of the worst droughts in 800 years and we\u2019ve been experiencing the most extreme bushfire season in recorded history. The recent rain has brought much-needed relief to some areas, but the heavy downpours have also brought flooding to some parts (as if fires and drought weren\u2019t enough!).<\/p>\n
We\u2019ve also seen incredible generosity, awesome community spirit and more than a few great examples of cheeky Aussie humour (if you haven\u2019t seen the clip where the Kangaroo Island Wildlife Park team convince a Scottish reporter she\u2019s holding a deadly dropbear<\/a> instead of a sleepy koala, it\u2019s priceless!). But it\u2019ll take more than that to help affected communities rebuild and recover. They need our support, not just now, but in the months and years ahead. And, thankfully, there\u2019s heaps we can do! One of the best ways you can support small and regional communities is by spending your money with them \u2013 and it\u2019s easy to do, because they produce some of the best food, wine, spirits, fashion, jewellery, homewares and gifts in the country.
