There\u2019s nothing better than a freebie, especially when you\u2019re on holiday. But how do you know what\u2019s up for grabs and what should be left well alone? Here is our guide to what you can (and can\u2019t) take home from your next hotel stay.<\/p>\n

The fluffy robe and slippers?<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Who doesn\u2019t love the fluffy robe and plush slippers that usually come with a luxury hotel stay? Many hotels will let you take the slippers, but, unfortunately, most will charge you for the robe. At check-in, most hotels take a copy of your credit card to cover incidentals, so if you take anything extra home with you, you may find a charge on your credit card in the days following your stay.<\/p>\n

If you really love them, ask reception if you\u2019re allowed to take home the slippers and\/or the robe and if there any associated costs. Some hotels even list the cost of the robe on a menu in your room, should you wish to purchase it.<\/p>\n

The indulgent toiletries?<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Good news! Most hotels are fine for you to take the toiletries in your room, which are usually included as part of your stay. This includes the body wash and hair products, along with any tea, coffee, or even stationery. In fact, many hotel groups create their own branded stationery in the hopes that you will take it with you.<\/p>\n

Depending on the level of service your hotel provides, it will likely replenish your toiletry supply, often every day, so you\u2019re free to take as much as you need. While it\u2019s unlikely that your hotel will say no if you ask for additional products, it\u2019s safe to assume that it\u2019s frowned upon to harass guest services.<\/p>\n

The luxey bedding?<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Unfortunately, the dreamy bed-and-pillow combination responsible for your perfect night\u2019s sleep must stay within the confines of your hotel room.<\/p>\n

While it\u2019s common for guests to try to sneak away with a pillow or two, this is not included as part of your hotel stay. The minibar treats?<\/strong><\/h3>\n

While hotel minibars have traditionally offered simple snacks for an added cost, these days they are extending well beyond that. Not only are today\u2019s minibars often more richly stocked, many are now partially or completely complimentary.<\/p>\n
