The fact that you\u2019re worrying about your pet instead of the traffic on the way to the airport kind of proves it. But the look they give you as you drag your suitcase out the front door just kills you \ud83d\udc94<\/p>\n<figure style=\"width: 590px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium\" src=\"https:\/\/images.trvl-media.com\/media\/content\/expaus\/wotif\/ads\/2018\/wotif-insider\/pet-owner\/anz_16513_600px_2.jpg\" width=\"600\" height=\"803\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-caption-text\">Who could close a door on a face like this?! The guilt can be overwhelming and it\u2019s important to deal with it in a calm, sensible way. For me, that\u2019s sending a hundred tearful messages to my best friend (and regular catsitter), begging her to \u201cLook after my baby!!!\u201d and send me pictures every day. Chances of one of those messages including anything for her, like a proper goodbye or a decent thankyou \u2013 zero.<\/p>\n<figure style=\"width: 590px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium\" src=\"https:\/\/images.trvl-media.com\/media\/content\/expaus\/wotif\/ads\/2018\/wotif-insider\/pet-owner\/anz_16513_600px_3.jpg\" width=\"600\" height=\"800\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-caption-text\">Dog beaches bring out the puppy in Puka. The very same clothes you have to live in for the next two weeks. Yes, somewhere in between all the guilt-tripping, your pet found time to sneak into your suitcase and exact some revenge. Naturally, you won\u2019t discover their little surprise until you\u2019ve arrived at your hotel, giving your clothes plenty of time to\u2026 marinate. No remorse.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<div style=\"clear: both;\"><\/div>\n<h3><strong>4. \u201cHOW AM I STILL COVERED IN DOG HAIR?!\u201d<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Doesn\u2019t matter if you\u2019re three hours away or on the other side of the world. You and all your possessions belong to your fur baby, and anything you\u2019ve brought from home will carry traces of them. Sometimes things you buy <em>away from home <\/em>too \u2013 I\u2019ve tried on brand-new clothes in stores and looked down to see one of Peanut\u2019s hairs already embedded in the fibres. The truth is your furry friend is almost certainly fine (especially if you\u2019ve followed our <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wotif.com\/vc\/blog\/tricks-and-trends\/travelling-with-your-pet\/\">tips for picking a petsitter\/boarding facility<\/a>). No-one can replace you! Although, I must admit to feeling a little irrational jealousy when my best friend\/catsitter sends through pics of her and Peanut, happily hanging out (yes, even though I asked for them. That\u2019s not the point!). But I promise your fur baby won\u2019t forget you, not even after a long trip. I\u2019m not joking). In my experience, cats aren\u2019t big on digital communication \u2013 they prefer real-life catch-ups (or nothing. Nothing also works). Dogs tend to be more modern. When I first moved from the Sunshine Coast to Sydney, I tried to talk to my family\u2019s dog over the phone. That part is quiet most of the time, but when you see another pet, it goes ballistic. You\u2019re cuddling that kitty or asking that dog \u201cWho\u2019s a good boy? Who\u2019s a good boy?\u201d before anyone can stop you.
