Or for your boss to approve another annual leave request? Well, you’re in luck!

Our latest research, The Wotif Travel Yourself Better Report, has found that although 96% of Australian workers report feeling recharged to some extent after a holiday, the feeling is gone by hump day (3.2 days). Major sad face.

To maximise that post-holiday feeling, the report suggests we don’t need to rely on a long trip to feel refreshed, with multiple mini-breaks the key to holiday success. Which is great news for those of us who are rubbish at saving, planning and packing for longer more complicated holidays 😉

Taking four or more mini-breaks over a 12-month period increases your recharge levels by a huge 18%, when compared to the national average. While getting away for a week or more increases your recharge levels by 9%, it’s the humble mini-break – and lots of them! – that proves to be the optimal way to recharge the batteries.

With spring in full bloom, now’s the perfect time to book in a long weekend away. Why Spring? The inaugural report reveals Australian workers who took a Spring mini-break within Australia felt 7% more recharged than the national average.

The research also reminds us of the importance of taking a holiday for our work selves, with:

69% of Australians experiencing greater tolerance in the workplace

Almost two in three (64%) Australians admitting they feel more committed to their careers after a holiday.

Millennials seeing the most benefit from a holiday, with 46% of Gen Y less inclined to quit their job and 43% more likely to embrace a career challenge.

So there you go, the stats don’t lie. You need a mini-break, no excuse needed!

Get planning here!

About Wotif’s Australian Travel Research

On average, the recharge level for Australian Workers when analysing their holidays over a 12-month period is just 6.8/10.

On average, the recharge level for Australian Workers after one individual holiday is just 6.7/10.

The research was commissioned by Wotif and conducted by Lonergan Research in accordance with the ISO 20252 standard. Lonergan Research surveyed 1,030 Australian Workers aged 18+. Surveys were distributed throughout Australia including both capital city and regional areas. The survey was conducted online amongst members of a permission- based panel, between 21st July and 25th July 2017. After interviewing, data was weighted to the latest population estimates sourced from the Australian Bureau of Statistics.

Australian Workers’ are classified as those who are employed, unemployed but looking for work, or on a career break, and who have been on a domestic or near-Australia international holiday (less than 3 hours flight time) in the last 12 months.

Two different types of analysis were carried out during the research phase, including trend analysis and linear regression. In doing so, multiple independent variables are included in the analysis, to investigate their relationships with recharge level and overall satisfaction rates.

Need help convincing your significant other to go on more holidays?
