Description

Platypuses, koalas, kangaroos, and even dingoes—find a host of Australian animals on this tour of the Healesville Sanctuary and Dandenong Ranges. Catch sight of an array of animals in the sanctuary, then board the famous Puffing Billy steam train to explore the natural beauty of Australia.

Spread over 74 acres (30 hectares) of bushland, Healesville Sanctuary is the best place to find Australian wildlife in their natural habitat. With your guide, discover prime places to spot favourite animals like platypuses, koalas, kangaroos, wombats, and dingoes. Watch the sanctuary's impressive “Spirit of the Sky” and “Tales of the Platypus” show to see these incredible animals in action. At the Wildlife Hospital, learn from your guide about the various animals that the sanctuary rescues, rehabilitates, and releases each year.

In the afternoon, hop on board Australia's famous Puffing Billy Railway, a century-old steam train that chugs through the Dandenong Ranges. Pass through lush fern gullies and the towering eucalyptus trees of the Mountain Ash forests, letting your legs dangle over the side of the historic carriage. After your journey through a piece of Australia's gorgeous nature, head back to Melbourne to end your tour.

Excellent trip, comfy small coach .Kat was a great driver and new all the history, aspects, and interesting details that she told us as we travelled made the trip even more interesting. Stops were long enough to shop and have a comfort break for toilets etc. Time to photo anything we wished and Kat explained for those of us who didn't know some of the plants and trees we saw. Kat is worthy of a permanent job, couldn't have a better driver and as I said, answers to all the things we wanted to know she knew them all.

Did not manage to go. Tour got cancelled at the last minute when we were already in Melbourne and was difficult to organize something similar.
