Description

Explore the wonders of Toledo on this guided full-day tour that reveals the city’s most fascinating sites. Walk through the enormous Alcázar fortress perched high above the city, make your way through the ornate interior of the Toledo Cathedral, and bask in stunning views along the River Tagus.

Your adventure begins when you’re picked up from your hotel in Madrid and transported through the idyllic Spanish countryside to the historic town of Toledo. Leave the bus behind as you enter the Alcázar and learn about its role in the Spanish Civil War. Next, head to the monumental Primate Cathedral, a magnificent example of flamboyant Gothic architecture built in the 13th century.

Continue on through the old Jewish quarter, ambling down narrow streets towards the Church of St. Tomé, where the famed painting The Burial of the Count of Orgaz by El Greco is on display. Stop by the Synagogue of St. Maria la Blanca, whose white interior pillars combine design elements from 3 different religions.

Check out the Museum Victorio Macho, located on the edge of the River Tagus, where astounding views await. Here you can see works by the famous sculptor and watch a short film about the city's history. Your tour then comes to an end with a panoramic bus tour around Toledo's outskirts, where you can revel in views of the metropolis from the other side of the river before heading back to Madrid.

Excellent excursion. Our tour guide Rafael was great, gave us lots of history and information and encouraged questions. Only complaint was we spent too much time at the jewelry/weaponry factory...could have seen more of Toledo in that extra 1/2 hour. Lunch was okay, busy restaurant, vegetables way over cooked and lamb was slightly over cooked too. Thanks Rafa!

Beautiful cathedrals and other historic buildings! Bring good walking shoes because there is a lot of uphill walking.
