Description

Tour the 2 most prominent monuments in Venice—the majestic Doge's Palace and St. Mark's Basilica. Get up-close and personal to access areas normally closed to the public. Skip notoriously long lines to ensure a meaningful experience in these monuments to Venetian glory.

Learn about the historical significance of the Duke's former home at the Doge's Palace, exploring paintings of past glories and admiring the rich décor of the Golden Staircase. Cross the Bridge of Sighs and follow in the footsteps of less-fortunate souls housed in the Palace of Prisons. You will have the opportunity to join an optional glassblowing demonstration at a glass factory very close to Saint Mark’s square.

Next, visit the grand St. Mark's Basilica. Marvel at the golden mosaics and marble floors as your guide explains the meaning behind the Biblical scenes and hidden details.

Finally, glide along the Grand Canal, venturing into small, peaceful waterways. Beautiful, hand-crafted wooden rowing boats trace their history back to the 11th century, when they were used as the primary means of public transport. There were as many as 10,000 active gondolas throughout the city in the 17th and 18th centuries. Admire majestic palaces and ancient bridges as an experienced gondolier guides you.

3.8 out of 5

5/5 5 Jul. 2019

It covered most all of it and there was ample opportunity to sit and rest which is often missing from other tours.

5/5 21 Jun. 2019

This was good and worth the cost. It would be good if the guides ensured Everyone had water before the tour as it was very hot and some people struggled without water.

4/5 16 Jun. 2019

It was a nice experience. However, I do think the gondola ride could have been planned better. There were so many people and we were given numbers but people we’re being put on the gondola rides in the order of the numbers given. However, for the price it was a good experience. We got to see a lot. Be aware though, they put 6 people in each gondola.
