Get a taste for the Tucson of yore with full-day admission to the Presidio San Agustín del Tucson Museum. Take an entertaining tour of a reconstruction of Tucson's founding fortress, and interact with intrepid 18th-century trailblazers at this educational site in the heart of Old Pueblo.

Lasso your pony and travel back in time to the Old West. The adobe-style Presidio San Agustín del Tucson Museum is filled with cultural artefacts from the late 1700s, when Spanish explorers sought to settle Tucson in order to assert the Spanish empire's northern border in the Americas.

Held the second Saturday of each month from October through April, the Presidio Museum’s Living History Days let visitors engage with volunteer actors who model what life was like in Tucson under Spanish rule, as well as later, during the founding of the United States. Chat with blacksmiths, candle-makers, merchants, and weavers as they go about the business of their everyday lives.

The museum also provides an illuminating look at the groups who inhabited the region long before the Age of Exploration. Learn, in particular, about the Apache people who inhabited the area now considered Downtown Tucson. With its highly interactive exhibits, the Presidio San Agustín del Tucson Museum is an ideal destination for budding historians of all ages.
