The best Big Things have a story – a bit of history behind them. And when it comes to history, you can’t go past Glen Innes. It’s like a little piece of the Scottish Highlands, only with better weather because it’s in Northern New South Wales. And it wears its Celtic heritage on its sleeve, with its own stone circle and an annual Celtic Festival. But there’s one thing Glen Innes doesn’t have: A Big Kilt.
Navanka Fletcher – a Glen Innes local and Big Kilt campaigner – makes a convincing argument. “With our Celtic history, the Big Kilt would help us tell our story and add a sense of fun to it at the same time. History is important to the township and we love to keep giving it new life.”
