Accommodation In Yogyakarta

Yogyakarta is Java's art and culture hub, where modern life meets the traditional world, and where you'll have a fantastic holiday when you stay in one of our Yogyakarta hotels!

Things to Do

From all night shadow puppet shows to rock concerts, you're bound to be entertained here no matter what your style is. But if you can't make it to any other event, make sure you attend a performance from the Ramayana Ballet. This incredible dance troupe recounts the tale of Ramayana from an ancient Hindu poem - fireworks and all! The best place to see them perform is in front of the World Heritage listed Prambanan temples, which are actually 1,000 years old and a very significant archaeological site in Indonesia. Prambanan isn't the only World Heritage listed site in Yogyakarta, though. The Borobudur Temple is another must-visit, as it's one of the largest and most beautiful Buddhist temples in the world, with outstanding stone wall carvings.

If you're looking to pick up some souvenirs, head to Kraton, which is the old walled city and is still the main heartbeat of Yokyakarta. This is where the sultan officially resides but the compound is also home to a museum, markets and some fascinating silver cottage industries. It's not all ancient artefacts in Yogyakarta, though. You'll also find plenty of stylish cafes, pumping nightclubs and modern shopping centres around the place. When it comes to shopping, don't miss Malioboro Street, which comes alive in the evening with lots of vendors selling delicious street food.

Getting Around

The airport is only about 6km from the city centre and you can get around town by minivan or by hiring a scooter. If you'd like to explore some other Indonesian regions, you can catch a bus from the Giwangan Terminal (about 5km from Yogyakarta's city centre) to Bali or Jakarta.

So for an amazing heritage-rich holiday in Indonesia, check out these cheap flights to Yogyakarta and book your Yogyakarta accommodation with us now.
