Pleasant hotel in Te Aro.

Location: The location is a little away from the main shopping area but walkable and perfect if you want to be in Te Aro or near student accommodation in this a
I booked this motel because it was an extremely reasonable rate for Wellington (although at the price I paid it was non refundable once booked). It was near where my daughter was living which was important to me. The room was a good size with a comfortable bed and pleasant decor. The lighting was great and the bathroom small but well equipped. I especially liked that my view was straight down Willis Street - pretty at night seeing the lights. Also (the weather was very hot) the window opened wide and the breeze cooled the room completely. I was also offered a fan. The staff were very helpful when there was a problem with the TV and offered to change my room if it couldn't be fixed. I would definitely stay here again.

The hotel was very hot not enough air flow or air conditioning. Also the front desk staff were not friendly or overly helpful.

Feeling cheated

Cons: Stop the underhanded stuff with parking and get air con, and modernise the bathrooms.
No air con and a very small room with only one window that could be partially opened. Very hot and humid. Shower pressure was non existent. Car park was difficult to get in and out of to the point where it was almost unusable. Nothing we saw in the booking said that parking in the hotel carpark cost extra, the staff never mentioned it costing extra when we arrived, but took a bond off us which we were told we would get back at the end. Instead they refused to return it all, saying car parking cost extra. If we'd been told this while making the booking, or even when checking in, it would have been fine, but it felt sneaky and extortionate, getting the money first as a 'bond' and then refusing to give it back. Some of the 'conditions' of parking in the carpark (you got a tag so you could park there) were worrying as well, like the hotel reserving the right to give your car to anyone who produced your tag (which had to be on the car at all times so you couldn't keep it safe). Feeling pretty cheated, wouldn't go back.

Hotel close to motorway

Probably wouldn't stay here again, no air conditioning made it very uncomfortable as it was so hot the two days we stayed, an the windows were siliconed shut so couldnt open them, quite noisy in the morning so dont expect to be able to sleep in, water pressure in the shower was near non existent, and you had to put the toilet seat down just to flush the toilet, on the up side it was clean but thats it.

Just kind of ok

This hotel was ok for the budget traveller but our room had massive pink stains on the carpet, the tv wasn’t working, and it had my absolute pet peeve in hotels - a shower curtain (bacteria breeding sites). The bed was ok, bedding was clean and pillow was only a little flat so if you are in Wellington for a short visit and don’t mind being a bit of a walking distance from the city then it’s definitely a place to consider. We were lucky enough to get a park (at a reasonable price of $15) but if you are visiting here be aware they are limited and it’s a very tight fit, best to just not have a car in Wellington as there are very few parks anywhere around anyway, most were closed after the earthquakes last year. In summary - ok for a short stay, clean enough if you ignore the carpet, friendly staff, don’t bother bringing a car if you don’t absolutely have to

A bit to faraway

Good for an economical choice. No aircon makes it quite stuffy. A long walk down cuba to where most things are. Although close to war memorial. Breakfast good. Beds comfy.

On arrival although the room was pre paid, I was charged a $50 deposit which takes 5 days to be returned to my account. I was told there was no food service so I had to purchase food from diary over the road for breakfast, only to come down to the foyer in the morning and full service breakfast was available in the restaurant. The room was stufffy and neither of the push up windows would not stay up. I had to use a cushion and a towel to have windows open.
