Good value hotel

Basic but good value hotel, with friendly staff, a relaxed atmosphere -- and very close to the National Library and an easy walk to the centre of the city. Plain, substantial breakfast that set us up for the rest of the day. One of the great extras was free wifi.

Great breakfast

We loved the location of the hotel and the breakfast was fabulous! However, the housekeeping was horrendous! Toilets not cleaned properly, bed linen not changed( we had to keep asking front desk to get our bed linen changed. We stayed 4 nights 5 days) we were told bed linen is only changed every 3 days! Unbelievable! Bathrooms floors were never mopped! The girls in housekeeeping looked half dead! I think the staff are overworked. I probably wouldn’t choose to stay here even though we got good value for money but cleanlines of the room and bathroom needs to improve in leaps and bounds.

Pleasant hotel, a solid 3 star

Nice welcome, managed an early checkin during busy summer period. Nothing was a bother to the staff. Beds comfortable, shower cubicle was a bit small, but good pressure so happy to return. Restaurant even opened early for us as we had tired young kids. Waitress very friendly and happy to arrange desert to room as kids just too tired to wait. Walking distance for young kids to bus station and beehive. Parking is additional fee tho.

Central to city

Pros: Convenient to local shops and tourist attractions
Cons: Clearing the tables and hoovering the carpet after breakfast
Location: Close to tourist attractions and shops
We arrived about midday to the hotel. I would presume the breakfast sitting would have been well and truly finished but several of the tables still had odd bits of cutlery and napkins scattered around. The carpet also needed hoovering. I was a bit disappointed because this room was right next to reception and could be seen by all people staying in the hotel giving a poor example of leadership and pride to make dinning area tidy and presentable to guests. Our room was clean but only had a small roll of toilet tissue which needed replacing straight away. No spare had been left for us. The following morning I took the ironing board out of the wardrobe and found a dirty cotton bud on the cupboard floor. I appreciate this was a cheap nights accommodation but standards should be maintained. Finally, the staff on the reception desk were very helpful and welcoming.

Currently being renovated

The hotel is currently going through renovations. We had a cover of a ceiling light in the bathroom fall as it was just taped in place, we were missing a few items that should be supplied in a room, but the location, actual nights sleep and the staff were great. Once the renovations are done the whole overall feel would rate better.
