Had the loveliest gentleman check us in on arrival and the bar opposite was staffed with a lovely team .... that’s where it ends! Room was dirty ... tv remote nonexistent (was told it would be passed on to supervisor... NO solution) and what a drama to leave the building on check out! Had to have the room checked 3 times to prove we had not used the ‘Mini bar’ and then the day duty clerk ARGUED WITH ME at the front desk on check out about this process. He was nothing but Rude, Obstinate and Argumentative. If this is how you treat you everyday NEW ZEALAND clients why would we recommend you to anyone????????? Questions need to be asked

Lovely Hotel in a great location

Pros: Central location and pleasant staff.
Location: Because of it's central location it is very easy to be amongst the city's activities within a few minutes without the hassle of having to drive.
The central city location of the James Cook Grand Chancellor is a real plus. It is within easy walking distance of the shopping and dining facilities of Wellington and close to attractions like Te Papa. A gentle stroll along the viaduct area of Wellington's wharves will see you there in no time at all. The staff are friendly and helpful and the stay was a very pleasant one.

Central location and good facilities however rooms a little tired and dated. Windy Wellington showed the window seals have failed with whistling on and off overnight. Lovely staff very helpful and professional.
