After a long trip, I arrived at this hotel only to discover that my reservation had been mistakenly canceled due to a clear error by their management. I immediately contacted my travel agency, and they were surprised to learn that the reservation was still active on their end.
Given that the mistake originated from the hotel's management, the travel agency requested an alternative room at the same price. Unfortunately, the hotel only had the king suite available, which cost an additional $100. Shockingly, the manager refused to offer any compensation for the price difference. It was a direct decision from the manager.
At this point, my travel agent found me a much better hotel at the same price, the nearby Cambria Hotel, which came highly recommended.
I believe that if the manager of the Best Western had acknowledged the mistake made by his team and agreed to provide the king suite at a lower price, he could have avoided losing a customer and the negative publicity that usually follows. This, in addition to preventing an agency complaint against the facility. Instead of receiving praise for effectively managing and rectifying their mistake, they only worsened the situation.
If you find yourself unable to avoid staying at that hotel, I recommend calling continuously after booking to ensure they do not suddenly cancel your reservation.
