Overall excellent quality, very friendly atmosphere and fantastic old buildings. Very quaint English village and great pub with high end food. Brilliant !
2 night stay in comfortable bed with first class bed like Bedding . Continental Breakfast delicious with a range of fresh foods. The Eggs Benedict are recommended. Exceptional service Staff very friendly and helpful . Look forward to returning in warmer weather when we can admire the gardens in full bloom.

Tucked away in the Essex countryside, although within easy reach of Brentwood, Basildon, Grays and other areas around, The Bell Inn combines old-fashioned charm with up to date quality and excellent service. My wife and I stayed for 2 nights on a business trip and I would have given The Bell Inn Top marks if were not for a couple of things: One, the fact that our room overlooked the main street and was noisy from about 6.00 a.m., and two, although the room and bathroom were both very clean and reasonably spacious, there were no bedside tables so nothing could be in reach (bedside clock, glass of water etc) when in bed. It is entirely possible this applies only to the room we were in as all the rooms are different. It’s just a minor irritation, but when your on a business trip and staying away these things do make a difference to your overall comfort and enjoyment. However, it doesn’t put us off booking again for another business trip, we’ll just make sure we go for a higher grade room that has the amenities we want. The restaurant here is excellent; the food is very good and the quality is on a par with the price and the service. Overall, a great place to stay, although because all the rooms are different check that the room you’ve booked does meet your requirements.
