Great hotel, loved touring the tunnel which Lavinia used and Governor Maitland's room. Staff very friendly and helpful, history was amazing!

Friendly welcoming staff
Pros:Swimming Pool and Buffet Dinner
Cons:At check in the staff need to advise if the room is close to the railway track. Double glazed windows would reduce noise from outside. Bathroom mould.
Location:Location of room was next to railway track; passing train very noisy. Nightclub noisy. Woken very early at 5:30am by prayers from local mosque.
Our room was not ready when we arrived at 2pm although a two hour late checkout was given as compensation. Colonial Room provided was metres from the railway track and very noisy due to passing trains and the train horn, loudspeaker from mosque at 5:30 am and loud music from a nightclub. Sleep constantly interrupted. Bathroom tiles not very clean due to black mould. Room service staff and door men are were friendly and try hard. Pool itself was clean and well maintained. Dining tables around the pool were often dirty and uncleared when we sat down to dine although it was quite busy. Wait staff need to be more responsive to diner requests.
