The hotel is brilliant, location great, beautiful and elegant accommodation, we love staying here. However, the evening buffet meals are problematic. We had room service food one night which was excellent and good value, but the dining room buffet was hugely disappointing and took a huge chunk of our holiday money. It is unnecessarily overpriced in order to pay for alcohol, which we don't drink and which IMHO should be paid for separately, and a variety of main courses that is meaningless to the client. No one person wants a roast and a curry and Malaysian and Japanese! Less variety and better quality is what’s required. However, ironically, the sweets selection could have offered far more than a bunch of tasteless tiny tarts, fruit and kids ice-cream, for the meal price of $108 per person. Where was a variety of mousses? Sorbet? Grown-up flavour ice-cream? Where was the choc pudding? Not a good selection of cheeses either. Consequently, paid $216 for the 2 of us to have a small curry and stirfry respectively (not best quality either) and some fruit, which should have cost us $50 each AT MOST. Essentially we paid dearly so that the hotel could boast variety and accomodate large parties where options might actually be relevant. It’s not a dining experience, it’s a canteen experience. The worst meal we had in Melbourne yet the priciest. Needs thought.
