Friendly front desk, good location, but...
We stayed 4 nights for a family get away for our mid-winter break. Our thoughts on this place: The Good: Very friendly front desk, pretty decent breakfast (always glad to see fruit and healthy choices), great central location, good priced hotel for the area. Nice front desk area. Dated, but seems like they’re working on updates. The not so great: our room reeked of air freshener when we walked in. We’re super sensitive to artificial frangrance, so I immediately located and unplugged the plug-in, but the scent didn’t fully dissapate until day 3 or 4. Our toilet was running the entire stay, even after addressing it with the front desk on day 2. Carpets are dated and damp. Only sheets and thin blanket on the beds. The rooms are non-smoking, but anywhere outside is apparently okay. The rooms open to directly outside so if anyone is smoking (which seemed often), you get it in your face. The worst is that smoking is allowed by the pool. We had to leave the pool it got so bad and couldn’t even enjoy this amenity. This seems to be a motel/hotel for many transients—some of who seem a bit shady. I did address some of my concerns with the front desk manager. Super friendly and empathetic. He was going to discount our stay, but because I booked on hotels.com he couldn’t. So he gave me a card for 50% off a future stay. Overall, it is an ok place for the price, but definitely plenty of room for improvement.
