The Lucerne is lovely, elegant, quiet and clean. The rooms we booked (deluxe K) are beautiful and more than sufficient. The price was also not bad at all for NYC. Excellent bedding and pillows. Good water pressure. Appreciated having plenty of towels and shampoo, conditioner, shower gel and lotion provided. The location was great for our purposes - just east of the 81st Street Museum of Natural History stop, and also near another subway entrance for the 1. We found decent food at the Cafe Nice downstairs as well as at other local places like Wau and Thyme & Tonic.
We don’t have complaints but suggestions: (1) because there is no coffee in the lobby and the restaurant doesn’t open until 8am, early risers who want coffee either need to use the in-room Keurig or walk a ways to find a place that’s open. So it would be great if rooms could include real cream (shelf stable) and more sugar for the Keurig set up. The coffee from the Keurig was surprisingly not-bad. We just needed something to make it better. (2) not sure anything can be done about the fact that the heating system makes a lot of clanking and tapping noises. Light sleepers beware and bring your earplugs.
