Lake view hotel room

Unfortunately my first experience of the hotel was being greeted by a very sick Receptionist who coughed and sniffed whilst checking us in. She also didn’t provide any instructions on how to find our room, which proved a challenge in this labyrinth of a hotel. Aside from that, the views were great and rooms nice, albeit on the small side. Note that you have to walk 20mins or get the hourly shuttle bus to get into central Queenstown.

So luxurious!

We had a great stay in our 2bed apartment. So luxurious!! All rooms face the lake so you are guaranteed an amazing view. The facilities are great and staff are always around and super helpful. We didn't even realize when we booked that the Rees offer a complementary shuttle into downtown Queenstown (5min drive) but it was great, we used it every day and saved so much in taxi fares which are quite expensive in Queenstown ($25 from the airport to the hotel, again a 5min drive) we will be back!

Great Views

Pros: Decor - comfortable - upmarket - new - very clean - latest appliances
Cons: Restaurant was aimed at a Very upmarket clientele - definitely not a family friendly menu and in room dining also very expensive - no other options
Location: No nearby activities available - need to travel to Q'town or Frankton for options - shuttle to Q'town from hotel but 25-$30 cab ride to Frankton
Cleaners were a little noisy - builders were also noisy - booked into motel for R&R after six days travelling south island in motor home with 2 x 17 yr old daughters - long sleep-ins were difficult

Perfect stay in Queenstown

We stayed in Queenstown for the first time with our 2 children and the Rees Hotel was great. The location was perfect as we could walk into town or catch the shuttle. Having the complimentary shuttle on a daily basis was a huge bonus to our group of 8 as we could all travel together. The rooms were immaculate and the views incredible. Would highly recommend and will definitely stay there again.

Enjoy our stay with breathtaking view of the lake and mountains. Staffs we encounter are friendly and helpful. The every hour shuttle service to the town really works for us to make a few trips so we can enjoy the comfort of our room in between the day. Though its only a short stay the place is highly recommended and definitely plan to stay again in the future. Thanks.

Great apartment, great views, great staff

Pros: The staff! And the shuttle bus
Cons: Room service menu is quite basic - it would be nice to have a burger or similar on there.
Location: Although The Rees is a bit out of town, I appreciated the quietness. Beautiful location on Lake Whatipiku.
From the minute we walked through the door, we were taken care of. The staff are incredible, helpful, polite with great attitudes. Our room was everything it said it would be, plus more - the views of The Remarkables were, quite literally, remarkable. Bedrooms are very comfortable, great toiletries (don't pack any, the quality is really good).

Great location, staff and room

The room at the Rees was great, we stayed in a two bedroom apartment with a fireplace and a perfect view. Having strangers peering through your window as they walked to and from the lake was weird but that's only an issue for apartments along the edge of the facility. Car parking was tops, staff were always friendly and professional. The cocktails were nice at the bar - we had the monkeys delight and a White Russian. Their main wine choice - the name escapes me- was ok but not the best I'd tasted from the region during my stay. Room service was quick, I had one meal that was bland - the chicken curry - but the rest was nice. The late night room service menu was helpful since we'd get back to Queenstown after an adventure to find places were closed around 11:30 pm. The view was amazing. The hotel wasn't right in the town which I loved. Other things: The room had a washing machine and dryer, the bathrooms had heated floors and you can order room service from a tablet. The pillows weren't great, I'd often wake with a sore neck but that's normal for me in hotels.
