A little different but quite lovely

I actually liked this lodge a lot. The restaurant has a large outside area with a fire pit (as well as there being another fire pit on the other side) and we spent a very pleasant evening eating cheese, drinking wine and playing trivial pursuit (available at reception). The beds were comfy and the curtains do a great job at blocking all light and sound. However there were a few things that do need attention in the room, the extractor fan above the shower was absolutely filthy and didn’t look like it had ever been cleaned, and the bathroom cold tap wouldn’t turn off, the hot tap wouldn’t turn on. I understand the recycled furniture concept but the aluminium seat in the lounge area needs someone to create a seat cover/cushion for it as we were using the bed/couches to sleep in this was our only seating option and even mid summer it was cold and uncomfortable. The other thing was the scent diffuser in the room. Great in concept but the scent was overpowering and gave all three of us massive headaches. The hotel surrounds were in flower and smelt amazing and didn’t need to be covered up by that harsh scent. If driving here ask the reception to tell you about the alternative route into town, getting back on to the main road is nearly impossible at all times of the day but the route up into the hill is very simple once you know it

Awesome place!!

Pros: See above
Cons: A radio would be nice, but not a necessity, Haha!
Location: Queenstown has everything and they are pretty close together too!
I have been to Queenstown many times before so in saying that I have stayed in many hotels over the years. This was by far the best of the lot! *Rooms were awesome, even took a few photos to show the family, haha (I never do that) *Beds, OMG I didn't want to get out! * Fire Pit, great idea you had with the pool. I bet its awesome during the winter. *Staff super friendly and way helpful. *Breakfast, was great! Thank you for everything, I will be back!!!!

Lovely hotel with a wonderful setting

Pros: Great for families. The presentation of the rooms. Good games room and surroundings for the kids.
Cons: More storage in the bathroom area and a different surface for outer areas other than the dusty shingle.
Location: Away from the centre of town but close enough for a lovely walk along the waterfront. Good location for getting to ski fields and Arrowtown etc.
Loved the sustainability and decoration of the rooms. The bathrooms could do with a bit more storage/shelving for toiletries. It was always warm and comfortable to return to after our days out. My only pick is the gravel/dust surrounding the common areas & restuarant. Our kids insisted on playing in it and dragging it all through the rooms on their shoes which just made a mess!

Pleasant surprise

After reading some of the other reviews we were not sure what to expect but from the moment we arrived everything was great. Hotel was presented well with great grounds and an excellent dinning/bar area. Staff we attentive and were always pleasant and chatty. Room little but small for 2 adults and 2 kids but they have renovated well with what they had. Restaurant is amazing. Will probably come back here in a could of years when we go skiing

Dear Guest, Thank you for taking your time and leaving you review here. We appreciate you have complimented our location and complimentary shuttle services into Queenstown town centre. In regards to the car parking, we understand your frustration, however we do our best in order to accommodate all our guests and have plenty of parking on the property grounds as well as the overflow parking on the top of the road behind the property, along the road and across the road which would only be a short walk back to your room. Please note that we largely trying to inform all our guests prior to the arrival, that majority of our rooms do not have the TV and it can be found in the descriptions of the in room amenities on any booking website. We do however, offer large portable tablets with our fast unlimited & complimentary internet connection. We are confident that we could have accommodated your requests for electric blanket and tissues, should this was communicated to our team. We do apologies for the issues you had experienced whilst staying with us, however should you wish to return to Queenstown, please contact us directly and we will ensure your next stay with us goes much smoother. Warm Regards, Sherwood Team

Good Hotel with the Remarkables Mountain View

It was a great experience all together . Our stay was pleasant and we were warmly welcomed by the staff at the reception and immediately with in 10-15 mins after the formalities , the room is allocated to us. Room Cleanliness was good. Beds should have been better. Coffee mugs are Terrible. They are rusty and no good for taking coffee. Overall okay it needs some touch ups to get things better.
