This hotel is insane value, right on the boundary of Chichen Itza. Beautiful five-star luxury, attentive staff, lush well-maintained grounds, three pools and early access to the Mayan ruins. I'm so glad we chose this place. The hotel has several excellent dining options. Coffee shop style cafe, buffet restaurant, full-service restaurant and other snack bars throughout. The buffet is around 350 pesos (free for kids under seven) and has a mix of American, Yucatan and Mayan cuisines to choose from. Think pizza and pasta, burgers, hot dogs, salad bar, dessert bar, hand-made tortillas, soup, tacos and all the fillings and toppings you could imagine plus a range of traditional foods to try. Excellent value. Plus, during opening hours (approx 11am - 4pm) there are traditional dancers every half hour or so. All-in-all, great value. The planetarium within the hotel grounds is also excellent value at $7USD. Presentation goes for half an hour and is an insight into Mayan culture. Sunrise at Chichen Itzá is the way to go. Firstly, you'll be amongst a very small group of tourists visiting (compared to thousands there during daylight hours). Secondly, you'll miss the heat of the day. Thirdly, it's a beautiful time to experience the ruins. Your guides will light up significant features within the park, helping set up and take great photos. You'll get to see the entire park and all of its features during the three hours so you don't need to go back again unless you really want to.

Fabulous Destination

Pros: I felt that I was in a different era, very colonial. Loved it.
Great location close to Chichen Itza but also lots to do on site. Lovely clean pools. Beautiful grounds, spacious, quite. Activities e.g. horse riding, cooking, walks Staff were so polite and helpful. We visited off season so not all fully open but wish we had stayed a bit longer.
