Located in Phnom Penh, Lumiere Hotel is in the city center and connected to a shopping center. Independence Monument and Royal Palace are notable landmarks, and travelers looking to shop may want to visit Riverside and Central Market. Our guests appreciate the hotel's central location.
Overall I'd recommend this hotel to Western travelers and think it's good value for the money. It's in a convenient central location, is well-known by tuk-tuk/cab drivers, and clearly geared towards business travelers. The rooms are clean, comfortable, and well appointed. It was one of the most comfortable beds I slept on during my trip in Cambodia, and the hotel breakfast was excellent. The reason I probably wouldn't stay again is the service. I had a low-grade tension headache the entire time trying to communicate with the staff. I feel bad complaining about it, because it's not anyone's fault, but I would expect the English proficiency of the front desk and other guest-facing hospitality staff to be better at a "4 star" hotel. Basic things like hailing a cab, ordering a drink at the bar, or asking for assistance with luggage was a crazy-making game of charades. Also, one of the elevators was out of service for the entire time I was there (3 business days), meaning there was one lift for all 14+ floors of hotel rooms. It was a real inconvenience, especially during busy times like breakfast and check out. There's also no rooftop pool, just a jacuzzi, which is not super useful when it's already 90+ degrees F outside. I immediately wished I had booked at the Aquarius Hotel down the street instead, which was the same price and has a lovely rooftop pool. Why this was on the websites "best deal of the day" list vs. comparable hotels is beyond me - seems like fake news.
