Nice building, has some very attractive lighting and features in and around the garden, which was also well planted.
Reception was good and fast. The hotel consists of 2 buildings - we were in the Reception building with just three floors and when booking requested a first floor room at the highest as they do not have a lift and we are getting on as bit to carry suitcases up stairs - this they took notice of and did put us on the first floor up. The room was a decent size, the twin beds were quite large and comfortable and the bathroom was clean and well equipped with nice, fluffy towels.
Breakfast was good with plenty of choice. We got a table quickly each morning with no need to queue. It is also a proper restaurant, and seemed to do a fairly good trade afternoons and evenings.
We expected the hotel to be pretty much on its own, but it was right on the seafront in a little town with a beach and a good ferry service to the mainland, and even a local bus station!
The only real drawback is that the hotel is on the promenade without any car or coach etc. access so luggage has to be carried out from the main road a little way behind the hotel - not a great distance but enough to be tiring after a long day of travelling!!
Only there for a couple of days but enjoyed our stay.
Not a lot of shops but quite a few restaurants and a local food court.
