The Hermitage staff were excellent & location stunning. Unfortunately however while the rooms were clean & tidy, the soundproofing of the rooms was exceptionally poor. We endured broken sleeps every night due to noise levels so would only stay again if we could specify to be on the top floor. Would also be lovely if all three advertised eating facilities had been open for variety and choice.

The room we were given was very dirty, noisy and in need of renovation. Walls were paper thin and noise from floor above was unacceptable. It was not at all clear from our booking we were getting such a poor room. It was clear on arrival that there are a range of premium rooms. We have never had this degree of trouble when booking with Wotif. The advertising for this property was misleading. To add to room issues, payment had not been processed by Wotif in spite of the platform saying the payment had been received and there was zero balance owing. It’s a marvellous location. Avoid Wotif and make sure you are getting a reasonable room at the Hermitage. There appears to be numerous accomodate 'wings'.

Overall had a great visit, great scenery and location. Meals were great and staff very good even though they were still getting up to speed after Covid. Disappointed with room. After booking three months ahead, we got to out room to find it was adjacent to lifts/stairwell, the bathroom was set up for a person with disabilities and the view (which we anticip[ated as being 180 degrees and or of Mount Cook at least) was blocked as the room was flush against the main building. Has a nice view of the range opposite Mt Cook and the roof of the main building and the aircon. Only view of Mt Cook (the reason we came) was from the carpark and or by walking out the front. I am not sure of the hotel was full ?? but would have thought for the price paid a better view would have been available. Disappointed.

Close to Mt Cook and surrounded by amazing scenery. The property is clean, tidy, and well staffed with friendly people. Went to bed at night on a chilly evening and woke in the morning to the magic of a snow covered vista. Noises of avalanches in the distant hills echoed all day. Just stunning and captivating.

I found the Hermitage to be a disappointment for $400 a night.
The room was only available after 3pm, the mattress on the bed was old and had collapsed on one side, the water pressure in the shower was poor and the hotel only offered UHT milk pods for your coffee (most places in New Zealand give you a small milk). It was also impossible to find a parking space near my room and I ended up having to double park.
The surroundings are beautiful and sure it's in a national park, but I expect a bit better when paying $400 a night for a place.

As advertised, our check in time is 3pm and although there is available parking, due to the sheer size of the hotel there is a small walk from car park to most rooms. In regards to the issues with your room, please do reach out to us directly if you didn't get a chance to raise this with us whilst in resort.
