Surprisingly good

An old hotel that has been renovated well. The rooms are very clean and comfortable. Kitchenette and large TV/lounge area available for guests. Large verandah is great to sit on. Although next to the main road thete is little noise as traffic is very light especially at night. Be prepared for just a few trucks passing in the morning. Included continental breakfast had good choices and cooked breakfast was available. Not a large place but a nice place for a stop over. Recommended.

Amazing historic building with lots of charm

We loved our stay in Moles Creek. A sleepy, historic town with a really peaceful vibe. Stroll out the back of the building and walk around the pretty garden and look in the rivulet for platypus. The restaurant is run by a great guy who serves fresh and tasty meals. All staff were welcoming and friendly. On our two week tour of Tassie staying in a new place every night, this was our favorite spot.

Great stay but a few things could be improved.

Lovely homey place to stay. We stayed in the “Alice” room which was a great size and had most of what we needed. The only thing I would say to improve the rooms would be to make them more sound proof. We could hear our neighbour snoring and we had a baby that cried through the night so I imagine everyone in the building could hear him. Lastly having a bar fridge in the room would make things easier also. There is a shared kitchen for all to use, the down side to this is that we put milk in the fridge for our baby and it was gone when we went to use it, we then thought putting a baby bottle with milk in it in the fridge would make it clear it was for a baby, well much to our surprise the other guest drank the milk from our babies bottle.....I almost wished it was breast milk. Although this is not the hotels fault, I feel this would have been avoided if the fridge was stocked up with milk or we had our own private fridge. Overall I would say it the best accommodation you’ll find in Mole Creek and the owners are lovely. fix those couple things and I would rate this hotel a 5.

Wasted potential

This place is in a quiet town and has the foundation of being great. Unfortunately they fail on the simple things like early breakfast and simple conveniences like a decently priced cafe with simple everyday food.

Motel type units in delightful rural setting

Pros: The quiet rural setting in one of Tasmania's beautiful valleys.
Cons: DO NOT call it a cottage! It's very misleading! Two chairs, besides the settee.
Location: There are great views of the Western Tiers: recommend taking a pair of binoculars. There are also guided tours through caves nearby.
Disappointment: It's a 'cottage' in name only! It was booked on the understanding that it really was a bona fide cottage, not just a motel type unit decorated to look rustic. However, the garden setting is delightful and there is a creek running at the bottom on the garden.
