Whilst Luton Airport is nearby and thus easily accessible, the hotel and amenities are entirely undisturbed by air traffic. Nestled in 100s of acres of countryside with glorious views, this is a true retreat. The Mansion House feels very stately, with working fireplaces, high celings and grand receptions. All staff we encountered were welcoming and charming; professional yet not aloof. Our room was very large and comfortable, being centrally located above the main dining room, it incorporated a high beamed ceiling, sitting area, tall windows and doors on to a large balcony overlooking manacured lawns and open countryside miles beyond. The batheroom too was large and well appointed with spa bath, separate shower, twin sinks and a selection of toiletries. The Spa, which incorporates a large pool, large heated whirlpool, saunas, steamroom and treatment rooms is in a separate building a short walk or even shorter complementary private taxi ride from the Mansion House...a quirky, yet very convenient service! Adam's Brasserie and Bar is also located there, adjoining the Spa. The food here was of a good standard and the ambiance pleasing, informal yet not unsophisticated. This is very much a 5 star hotel and would very much recommend.
However there was disappointment, detracting from a truly 5 star experience, such as no acknowledgement whatever that we were celebrating a wedding anniversary, even though advised in advance and noted on our record. These little things are important!
