    A horrendous experience

    This place is like something from a documentary about horrendous hotels. I actually cannot believe Hotels.com have it on their site. We got to our room to find the window smashed and sellotaped back up, black hairs everywhere and dirty bedding. There was an enormous brown stain on the mattress so big it was actually visible through the sheets. We were moved to another room which had pubic hair all over the bathroom floor and again had dirty bedding. The curtains were covered in stains and the pictures on the wall had smashed glass. Took plenty of photos and got a full refund, would rather have moved hotel but everywhere was full. Ignore the fake positive reviews on Tripadvisor, they must be talking about a different hotel. There’s nothing good about this place.

    The only good thing about the Cranley was its friendly, helpful staff and its location. The hotel was falsely advertised as a four star hotel. When we arrived we were given musty smelling rooms with torn curtains, stained carpets. We were only moved because we had complained profusely about the condition of the rooms. Our so called upgraded rooms wre none the better. We had a TV cabinet door that had come of its hinge and did not stay open and the table was rickety. The bedding also left a lot to be desired. We saw dirt in the elevator that had not been cleaned for the 2 nights we were forced to spend there as the hotel would not refund us. All around the hotel there is evidence of disepair eg. peeling paint on walls, dirty stained carpets, chipped crockery at the poor breakfast buffet, aircons and some light fixtures in the rooms that did not work well. Over all as a fforeigner I felt totally let down not only by the hotel but by Expedia too. If Expedia chooses to associte with an institution or attach its name to a company/ hotel, Expedia should have measures in place to ensure that hotels do not falsely advertise their services. A truly disapointing experience that makes me question my fauth iExpedia.
