Great location, friendly staff, and wonderful breakfast. But this 250-year-old inn is in the midst of some major renovations, and we really felt those improvements will make a much needed difference to the experience. They’re working on the boiler issues which made our room a bit stifling, and new windows will be installed soon. Unfortunately, we had to prop our window open with a sneaker in an attempt to cool the room! Hopefully they will install an ice machine (we had to go down to the kitchen for ice) and some new, clean, ice buckets. Ours was too dirty to use. Not to nitpick about small things, but they only provided one bar of soap, which we had to move back & forth from shower to sink. Perhaps our biggest disappointment however, was the bed. What was advertised as a King, was in fact two twins pushed together. Hopefully new beds will be part of the renovations too. It may not be ready just yet; but this place does seem to have potential.
