Located in Hiroshima, Sheraton Grand Hiroshima Hotel is near a train station. Notable landmarks in the area include Atomic Bomb Dome and Hiroshima Castle, and travelers wishing to experience a bit of culture can try Hiroshima Peace Memorial Museum. Asa Zoological Park and Hiroshima Shokubutsu Park are also worth visiting. Our guests appreciate the hotel's convenience to public transportation: Matoba-cho Station is 12 minutes by foot.
The staff were all very courteous but unfortunately not helpful when we asked for some consideration on issues we raised. We were charged extra to check in early. We needed an early check in so that our toddler could have his afternoon nap after a long morning journey. I would have expected a reasonable hotel to allow the early check in free of charge given the circumstances and also taking into account my long standing participation in their membership scheme. We were told to pay the charge or let our child miss out on his nap. Any parent will tell you that’s not really a choice so we paid the fee. The hotel charges extra to use the swimming pool. It is more than 2,000 yen per person to use the pool, so would cost more than 6,000 yen for my wife and I to take our toddler to the pool which is an outrageous charge. We decided not to accept this charge but remained very disappointed not to be able to avail of the amenity. The staff member who delivered the news about the extra charges showed no willingness to escalate the issue despite the fact this was clearly quite disappointing for us. The breakfast buffet was ok but limited options for vegetarians. All allergens and food contents were clearly marked which was very helpful. Lunch and dinner buffets are really only suitable for meat eaters, and not value for vegetarians. Bedding under the sheets was dirty. Bathroom was tired and a little dingy. Very disappointing.
