In need of a massive renovation
The building and views are beautiful, however this unfortunately is not a 5 star hotel anymore. The potential for this place is immense, however in the current state it does not reflect the hotel description. Our room was a deluxe double, good size and design superficially looked great. However the handles on the wardrobe were broken off on one side, paint chips off the headboard and wardrobe. Marks on the carpet. The shower doors were broken. The main issue was the smell of damp throughout the corridors, skirting boards rotting in places and peeled wallpaper and leaks/peeling paint on the ceiling. It did not reflect 5 star luxury. The staff were lovely and very polite. I know this hotel has recently been taken over and hopefully the new owners will invest to return it to its former glory.

Awesome place! Very romantic and historic and atmosphere is amazing! Now I believe in ghosts :) I’m happy to have this experience! But quite old facility, a lot of mould. Spa is quite scary, old communication and it is not pleasant to stay there, especially when no one other here

Great, grand old building. Beautiful but hard to heat in sub zero temperatures, as we found out. Service great. Did take seriously the one issue we had but no follow up, even though an injury happened (slid in shower) Food was on the whole good. Less care on breakfast when there was a quiet service. Think there was a sense this hotel is having a tough time still financially, and would benefit from some money spent on it, and just raising the levels just up a notch. That said, nothing bad and service generally very good I would absolutely visit again, but during spring summer early autumn.
