Explore the attractive West Lake Park in the centre of the city. It's an urban park that's a great spot for a picnic, or just taking a break from the busy city centre. The teahouse in a cave at the summit is not to be missed, and also gives visitors excellent panoramic views. If you're looking for an easier walk, try the short trail to the hilltop of Wu Mountain. There are plenty of street performers along the way to make it interesting, and the White Pagoda at the top is great for a photo.

Visit Qi Mountain and see a forest park and stunning waterfalls, as well as fantastic views into the valleys as you walk over a vertigo-inducing suspension bridge. For a taste of the true Chinese heritage, walk through the historic district in the centre of the city. There are 268 residences that date back to the Ming Dynasty in the area known as Three Lanes and Seven Alleys. Visit the ten finest homes and see the wonderful architecture for yourself. A hidden treasure is the Fuzhou Museum in downtown, which is housed in Hualin Temple, a spectacular temple built during the Tang Dynasty.
