Staff were fantastic, friendly, helpful and cheerful. Room seen better days , could have been cleaner, shower room smelt of Urine, large step up from room to shower room, very dangerous especially for someone 76 years old as we are . Breakfast ok , fried eggs hard as they were standing there for some time . Plenty of choice and again staff brilliant. Extra charge for breakfast. Music coming from somewhere at 6 am , don’t know if it was dining room as we were over it . Tried to show photos of the step but review wouldn’t accept them ???

Great food and atmosphere.
Food is excellent. Highly recommend. The room was good. My only complaint was the bed. It was uncomfortable. The atmosphere was nice and relaxed. Staff were great.

I experienced a rather bad stay as when I got to the reception I was not spoken to very nicely when I gave in my booking information. I didn’t feel comfortable after this and they made me feel unwelcome

ON check in at the front desk told me the bar closes on Friday at 10pm which was not true it was 11pm. Had i known that i would have adjusted my schedile to suit me better.

Basic facilities and could do with a makeover
This is a very basic hotel and could do with an upgrade. Booked what was supposed to be a deluxe room but it was very basic. It was a cold night and the heating did not come on. Spoke to reception in the morning and was told a portable heater will be brought up which never arrived till we checked out. Other guests complained they had a similar experience with cold rooms as we all stayed overnight for a function at the hotel.

We had the newer rooms but even then they were dull, dark and depresisng. Wouldn’t recommend or stay there again. Big spacious hotel but soulless.

The hotel is very outdated. Needs a lot of updating. For what I paid I am shocked at the hotel. The staff at reception and the duty manager were very helpful but unfortunately that didn't help when the hotel itself was disgusting. It smelt and isn't very well looked after. I expected the service to match the price we paid (nearly £200 for 1 night). Won't be returning.
