We had the pleasure of staying at The River House for 2 nights, we loved it so much there we ended up staying another night so that made 3 nights. Anna and Michael are two of the best host we have ever come across. The breakfasts are so delicious and very filling, and the view of the river was amazing. We even had the pleasure of seeing an eagle just using the up draft to glide across the sky. The room was very comfortable and the bed was so inviting my husband and I slept for around 12 hours, (we had just renewed our marriage vows, and this was our second honeymoon). It is so peaceful there when we are staying in Launceston again we will stay there again. I wish I could give more than a 5 star rating as it deserves more. You must stay for yourself as words can not justify what a pleasure it is to stay there. Thank you Anna and Michael for making our stay just a dream. Annette and Lyall Rainbow.

Outstanding

We spent two nights at River House. Couldn't want for better comfort and hospitality. The River House is ideally located to explore the NE Tasmania wineries but still close enough to Launceston if you need to be.

Lovely accommodation and wonderful hosts

Pros: Everything. Our accommodation room was beautiful, our hosts made us feel very welcome, the food was delicious, the views were magnificent.
Cons: Nothing
Location: Short drive to wineries and other foodie places, Launceston and George Town (lots of history about early European settlement in Tasmania)
Stayed three nights and had a wonderful time. The accommodation was spacious (we had a full kitchen and dining room as well as bedroom and ensuite) and well appointed with quality furnishings. The twin shower in the ensuite was a nice touch. Our hosts Anna and Michael were brilliant helping us with suggestions for places to visit. Anna prepared a full breakfast each morning with a surprise main dish each sitting - beautifully presented and using local produce. Visited a number of wineries as well as trips to George Town, Beaconsfield and Launceston - so much history and could have easily stayed longer. We ordered Anna's cheese plate one night for dinner and it was was magnificent - local and foreign cheeses (including a sneaky hard goats cheese), local fruits and dips - highly recommend this!. All the rooms we saw had views across the Tamar and one afternoon we sat outside in the large gardens enjoying the view and fresh air. There was a common room for guests which had books, our guides and CDs and a nice Port to have after dinner. Lovely place for a relaxing or romantic visit.

Perfect

We stayed at the Riverhouse 2 nights of our honeymoon. It was by far the best accommodation we had in Tasmania. It was absolutely perfect.

Absolutely perfect! You must stay here!

Pros: The views, the property, the hosts, the breakfasts, the space, the location. No children!
Cons: Trish and Rob have only been here for 8 months and have done a lot already, so I imagine it will only continue to get better.
Location: A short drive out of Launceston, we enjoyed Hollybank Treetops zip line and loved Cataract Gorge.
We had a 3 night break here during our 2 week trip around Tassie, and it was the highlight. So relaxing and a great base for exploring Launceston and surrounds. No matter which room you stay in, you will experience the beautiful, sweeping river views from the communal guest lounge and deck. You will also have the pleasure of the delightful hosts, Trish and Rob, who will do anything to make your stay more comfortable. Trish's breakfasts are delicious and creative, and eating them on the deck with other guests is a lovely start to the day and a great way to share travel tips. We had the spacious Riverview Apartment, which was superb. Great views, comfortable, tastefully furnished, convenient for self-catering. I really can't find any fault with anything....well, maybe an umbrella by the pool would have been nice, but I get the feeling Tasmanians try and find the sun to bask in, rather than seek shelter from it!
