My wife and I arrived at the hotel at 11:30pm after a long journey and we were looking forward to sleep. The hotel had a different plan for us. We had booked (and paid) for a deluxe room however it seems that the staff had given our room away to someone else (or double booked the room). Rather than being upfront and honest with Us, they did what we frequently experience in India, showed us to ‘our’ room and hoping we would not notice (with no mention of a refund of the difference in price). We noticed.
I asked the category of the room and it then became clear what the previous chat between the 2 colleagues (in English, where the remaining conversations were had in their local dialect) was about. They were discussing which was the biggest room they could give us! Making us feel they were giving us the biggest room they had, not that they were giving us a smaller, lower category room for the same price!!
The manager was called. Once he arrived, after 2 calls made to him, he told us that our actual room, we had booked over a week prior, had faulty AC. Not believing this, we told him we were leaving and hurriedly booked another hotel. He did offer us a deluxe room the next night however as we had to leave at 3am to catch our flight, it seemed little consolation. We would never again consider this place. There are too many nicer places out there!
As for refund, we were asked to take that up with Expedia!
